After the second experiment and ask myself the questions, I thought again the way to express the clock. I focused on finding an easy way to check the time and lunar phase. Before everything, I tried to reflect whole experiments and researches what I have done and then started to think more ideas. The image is how I got the final idea. As usual, I experimented and made the video of new moon phase with the final idea by using premiere. Firstly, I made two sequences for the moon and the number. In the moon sequence, I insert the video of the moon and gave mask effect on the video since the clip has a black background. I make a white colour matte for the moon clip background. In the number sequence, in order to apply mask effect on the number, I wrote the number using type tool, not a title tool and insert three clips side by side. 2. When I saw the Maarten Baas's clock, I thought it was real and performance artwork, not the video. On the contrary, I thought it would be interesting if I use the real plant. However, it should be placed four drums with 7 days clock because there are different conditions for the plant in each four phases.  I wanted to insert the video of plants but it was hard to find growing plant video with a clear or white background. So I was finding for replacement instead of showing real video but still looks like video. The picture/painting could be a good material and I came up with a moving picture/painting such as moving portrait in film Harry Potter. I used two programme, Photoshop and After Effects. 1.  The clock duration is 29.5 days. At first, I divided into four sections which were first quarter, full moon, third quarter, new moon. My intention was that gardeners can check the shape of the moon even the weather is bad. I drew two rough sketches and  I found myself restricted by dividing the section. I focused on what am I going to show on video.   This is the second sketch. I also divided every 7 days into 4 phases but what I wanted to show was the moving of the moon with information.  I tried to insert the video on the white part for the experiment by using Premiere pro. I used pen tool to apply mask effect on the white side and clicked the "tracking" button to tracked the white side but it did not work. I made the mask in not every frame but in some frame for the experiment, so it did not look smooth. After checking how it works, I found the proper video for first quarter phase to apply. I had thought am I going to change the whole idea but the lunar calendar was quite interesting. The calendar is based upon the monthly cycles of the Moon's phases and the lunar phase is regular so I decided to keep the lunar things but change to making using with lunar phase. 1. Korean use lunar phases for gardening, for example, people plant the seeds of Chinese cabbage in summer when the new moon rises on the seventh lunar month. As I first did research, I mentioned that Korean use the lunar calendar for Gimjang, the period of making Kimchi, and this is because the cabbages are cultivated by using the lunar phase and lunar calendar.  I found out people who are gardeners even are not Asian people, they often use lunar phases for gardening. I firstly did not have any idea what am I going to make. So, as usual, I drew a spider map and found some keywords such as calendar, lunar, solar, Asia, Common, and South Korea. When I saw the keywords lunar and calendar, the experience what I felt inconvenient came into my mind. I drew a storyboard about what I and my family experience every year. It was about my grand father's birthday. Our family celebrates his birthday on his lunar calendar date and every year we need to calculate when is his birthday.
