Timeline [Experiment#3: Fianl choice and development]

After the second experiment and ask myself the questions, I thought again the way to express the clock. I focused on finding an easy way to check the time and lunar phase. Before everything, I tried to reflect whole experiments and researches what I have done and then started to think more ideas. The image is how I got the final idea.

As usual, I experimented and made the video of new moon phase with the final idea by using premiere. Firstly, I made two sequences for the moon and the number. In the moon sequence, I insert the video of the moon and gave mask effect on the video since the clip has a black background. I make a white colour matte for the moon clip background.

In the number sequence, in order to apply mask effect on the number, I wrote the number using type tool, not a title tool and insert three clips side by side. In the essential graphics tool, I made a shape of rectangular and change the order with the text. Then, I applied blend mode as multiply. However, when I import the sequence and gather on moon sequence, it showed just black. So I tried to change blend mode as lighten then it worked. However, the number changed to the transparent colour of the number when the moon clips showed the white part.

So I erased numbers 5 to 7 and tried to use the pen tool for mask effect. However, the boundary line of the number was not clear ( I even do not know why).

This is what I expected.

At first, I researched to figure out the problem, but I did not find. So I used another way of giving masking effect, track matte and alpha matte. I was still needed two sequences and I just change number sequence. I placed clips and found track matte key in effect panel. After that, I applied track matte, and assigned composite using as matte alpha, and applied all on the number. However, each video made each applied number. I thought it is because the clips are not one clip so I made new sequence to combine three clips to just one video, and it worked properly.

After making one phase of video and checking it is working, I made each sequences and finally got final outcome. I tried to find appropriate video clips on each phase and I changed the clips speed to show how it works for 29.5 days. For let user know the last day of the clock, I put just moon video on the date of 29.5.

   [ from mid point presentation ]  I asked 4 questions in the midpoint presentation. Which one do you think good/convenient for users to count the number?(on my sketch) - The reward/benefits section will be a good method to get more people using reusable cups - Hi Min! I think the staff one and scanning the qr code is quite convenient. People counting by themselves might mean people cheat and over exaggerate how many times they've used it  Merge 1&2 100% - I'm not sure, I can see the dilemma, merge 1 & 2 would mean people can't exaggerate (would using one qr code that everyone scans in the store better than a sticker, to save paper?), but if people make their own drink then they can't enter the use, so I would say 3 might be the best I guess you could merge 3 and some elements of 2 as having a qr code could remind people to enter their use when they are in the store - I think it's difficult to have users count their uses themselves. 23RD SEPTEMBER 2019  I learned how drawing can be related to systems. At first, I was quite confused since I have not thought that I can do a drawing about systems without computer and machine. Because the word 'system' I thought was directly related to computer. I learned the exact meaning of system, which is a set of things working together as parts of a mechanism or an interconnecting network.  We especially drew 'complex system' a lot, meaning one in which the individual elements interact to create something that is greater than the sum of its parts. First of all, we drew some straight line but it looked like chaos and disorderly. 30TH SEPTEMBER 2019 - 7TH OCTOBER 2019 After the first briefing, I got 1:1 tutorial with Oliver on Monday 30th Sep.
