Feedback and changes

[ from mid point presentation ]

I asked 4 questions in the midpoint presentation.

Which one do you think good/convenient for users to count the number?(on my sketch)
- The reward/benefits section will be a good method to get more people using reusable cups
- Hi Min! I think the staff one and scanning the qr code is quite convenient. People counting by themselves might mean people cheat and over exaggerate how many times they've used it
Merge 1&2 100%
- I'm not sure, I can see the dilemma, merge 1 & 2 would mean people can't exaggerate (would using one qr code that everyone scans in the store better than a sticker, to save paper?), but if people make their own drink then they can't enter the use, so I would say 3 might be the best
I guess you could merge 3 and some elements of 2 as having a qr code could remind people to enter their use when they are in the store
- I think it's difficult to have users count their uses themselves. It might be best for hot drinks which are purchased on-the-go.
- I think option 1 or 2 are the best, definitely giving incentives to re-use their tumblers is beneficial.

---->
It was about my sketches. I was considering between 1+2 and just 3. So I asked it when I did the mid-point presentation. The first and second one was conducted by employee in cafe but the way to use was different. The first is counted via barcode and second is counted via QR code but it does not work in app. It was the idea for people who do not want to use app every time they go to the cafe. I thought it will be great if users print it and stick it on the tumbler then they do not need to show the app. The third one is conducted by users themselves. The reason why I came up with this idea was that users also drink drinks at home. However, in the survey, people usually use glass cup rather than using plastic or stainless steel cup. Moreover, my main user was both cafe user and tumbler user, so I chose to merge idea 1 and 2. And feedback were also helpful to choose it.

Do you think do you want to use the app even if there is no benefits/reward? (If you are a user)
- Could have different rewards to do with different places e.g. starbucks. 'Bring your cup 5 times to get 50% off etc.'
- some cafes in the UK offer a money-off incentive for customers who have their own cup. however, this has been stopped temporarily during covid.

---> I only thought free coffee reward when users bring their cup 20times. This feedbacks were good so I noted to apply it to the app. And I actually used 10% discount on the

What is the worst thing?
- Theres no worst thing min 🤣 Maybe start to think about design once you know whats gonna go on the app. How many different sections do you want on the app

Is there anything to add on or subtract key features?
- love the idea min! and the visualisations, I feel like a rewards would be a good addition, maybe a free drink or something. something showing the impact, (e.g."this much water has been saved") could be a nice addition.
- Maybe a weekly insight as to how many times they've used the reusable cup and say "this is how you've contributed" e.g. 14 turtles have been saved 🤣
- a visualisation on their impact due to the number of times they've re-used the item would be good.
- perhaps it could be a collaboration with something like KeepCup, (https://uk.keepcup.com/) who are used by companies by having their logo printed on. printing a QR code on the underside of the cup could work well!

---> I had not thought about collaboration with the company but Christine gave me the idea about collaboration. So I researched more other companies like Keepcup who are using their logo through engraving. And I put Keecup and Chilly's bottle as partner company when I drew stakeholder map to understand the system.

Other feedback

- The application steps are very complete, have you discussed with your users whether your vision meets their expectations, and the reward part can be more detailed
- very interesting project, Min. I like how you're tackling a problem which is initially presented as a green solution.

 [ from final presentation ]

I asked 4 questions in the final presentation.

Do you have any recommendations  for design or function or whatever that I need to add or modify?

- I really like this project it works nicely and I think you have indentified problems for the topic very well, discovering people buy too many reusable out of popularity etc... -MARA

- since your survey showed that most people own tumblers but don't use them since they forget to bring them out, perhaps you could set up some sort of daily reminder system within the app to prompt users to remember to bring a tumbler out with them? -KIM

---> I had idea about notification had not shown the notification function on final presentation. And I was sure that I need to make it after I got the feedback from Kim.

-Hi! I really like the design and flow of the interface, it is very clear and easy to follow. Would love to see the 'rewards' page, and what rewards are available when the cup has been used a certain amount times. Would it be helpful to have reminders of the negative or positive impact single-use cups or tumblers have, maybe some facts when a user logs in? -Bilkis

me tooo perhaps they could claim or have discounts to related sustainable drink items like metal straws, cloth carrier bags? although there's the whole issue with metal straws being a huge trend (same as the overbuying of tumblers as you've mentioned) so i'm not sure if you'd want to do that either -KIM

Do you think the app will solve the problem and users would feel why they need to use tumblers in a proper way?

- in your interim presentation i was really confused as to why there was so much focus on the tumbler and not the generic usage of tumblers, but now that i get that the over-buying and under-using of tumblers is a problem, i think that having to register your tumbler in the app under a unique barcode works perfectly :)

and yesss!! i also do have a tumbler but don't bring it out because i'm scared to ask the shop if they'd be okay filling that up instead of a plastic cup lol but if there's reward incentives to collect i'd do itt -KIM

-Do cold and hot drinks affect the number of cups used? -YAN

I was going to give colour on each materials like plastic cup with green, stainless steel cup with blue and others with orange, do you think is it okay if I use in one colour?

-I think it is fun to have multiple colours, but it would work just as fine with one, so if you have extra time I like it better in multiple colours but if not I don't think it would influence that much the functionality or visuals :) -MARA

---> I was going to make 'reverse' version like reversing green and black colours. I asked people after making it as an example but I did not use it as my final design.

What rewards do you want to get if you are a user of the app?

-I am thinking every 20times: get free coffee from partner / every 30 times: size-up coupon + QR code sticker

-I will also use the cheering up(?) message when people achieve the goal they have set

I think these rewards are great, wouldn't change them -MARA

- rewards I think maybe you can add some sustainable stuff, or exchange for coffee or drink(maybe something South Korean like to drink based on your targeted user)!!! -JUDY

- I think some discount of coffee is also good -Hanli

-I think 20 times is a lot actually, since most cafes have around 10 stamps for a free coffee. So this could demotivate users. BUT I think it's good that you have different options so that if you get to 20, 30 etc, there's different kind of rewards -Armando

oh yeah, maybe along the way they can have smaller incentives? like for some shops i've used physical reward cards with before, they'd have like 10 stamps to claim a free drink, but maybe the 3rd and 6th stamp could be a mini discount. so dropping small rewards along the way might be a good idea to get people into the habit of making changes to their lifestyle -KIM

- Love the rewards/incentive ideas! i think having messages are really helpful, especially love the free coffee!! -Bilkis

---> 'Rewards' was the biggest part that I accepted and applied feedback to my design. Most said 20 times is a lot so I changed to 10 times and I gave the 3rd and 6th stamp other rewards like 1+1 or discount.

<REGISTER YOUR CUP> - ARMANDO

Hey! I like the colours you have chosen. Clean yet positive. Just one point regarding this section. It's going to be quite difficult to press the "upload" and "cancel" button. Just make the image as a button you click to add a picture. Does that makes sense? If feels to me like most buttons on this screen is made for a laptop using a mouse. (I did exactly the same thing with my own app btw)

---> After I got the feedback from Armando, I changed the button on 'register your cup' page and 'edit your cup' page.

can you have it so that, for iOS, you can have the QR code within your 'wallet' so it's easier to pull up when you're near a participating cafe?

---> My biggest frustration part that I did not apply this feedback to my design.

I'm not sold on this yet. Can the sticker survive the repeated washing and carrying around of the cup? How do you get/print it? If it's gone and you need to use your rewards to get a new one, how do go get rewards while the sticker it missing?

---> After I got this feedback, I thought I need to give users enough explanation on rewards page and about page.

Initial Design + Changes

 1. Start Page [initial] [modified] I changed the first page because the initial one was too simple. I want to highlight the main colour of Ncup by using the colour on the background. 2. Login-Sign Up [initial] [modified] I added sign up and sign in button on each sign in and sign up apge. 3. Register cup  [initial] At first, uploading the photo was just optional, and I wanted that users can see the photo before clicking 'done' button. But I got feedback from Armando that it looks more proper on the web, not the app. So I changed the button. [1st modified] I changed like the photo above, like big plus button and cancel button and put 'preview' function. But I did not like it. [final] It is the final design. While modifying the design and function, there were some changes in function. Like it is no more optional to upload the photo of tumblers. Because I thought staff in cafe need to check the tumbler image when they scan it. And I coloured green on the top background. 4...
